American Soldat und Soldatin

Guten Tag to our friends and family!

Bre, here, testing out the new blog site to help keep everyone up-to-date and in the know on the happenings of Charlie and I.

If you are just now joining us, we can catch you up real quick. Charlie and I are still in Germany, based around the Stuttgart area (home of the Porsche and the second largest Oktoberfest in the world). Charlie recently returned from his total of 14 months in Afghanistan and is now looking to leave the service after 9 years active. I have been busy myself with school and am about 7 classes shy of my A.A. in General Studies with the University of Maryland here in Europe. I am currently in the reserves and my unit is based out of Mannheim (yes, the prison base from the A-Team movie). I have been working odd and end jobs like Josef Seibel shoes and teaching swim lessons for the base program Child and Youth Services.

As with the big decision Charlie and I have made for him to finally end his time as a soldier, we have a lot of big decisions to make. Some will be easier than others we are realizing and it has occurred to us that what we may want to do, might not necessarily be as beneficial to us as something slightly less appealing. I have decisions regarding my military career that we need to make in 2012, but well after what we need to focus on now regarding Charlie's.

In the past, we have sent out mass emails when we have made life altering decisions. It is my hope that by blogging, you all can kind of have a better experience of receiving our news. Emails can come across as a bit impersonal and Facebook is not something everyone in our family has. Plus it's cheaper than making a billion phone calls!

We think about you all often and we do miss you more than you realize. I hope that as our blogs continue, you realize that the decisions we make are after much careful consideration and are also based on our best needs and interests.

Ciao!

Bre
